Insanity

I've heard that one definition of insanity is: “Doing the same thing and expecting different results.” Well, if that's correct, then there's a lot of insanity going on out there!

Just Plain NutsI've heard that one definition of insanity is: “Doing the same thing and expecting different results.” Well, if that's correct, then there's a lot of insanity going on out there! Count me as certifiable! How many times have I told myself or others, that I would remember something important and yet, neglect to write it down?

Then, of course, comes the moment of truth when that very information is needed and I'm caught like a deer in the headlights! Duh! How many times has that happened to me? Too many! Insanity! God says it this way, “As a dog returns to its vomit, so a fool repeats his folly.” Proverbs 26:11

Negative consequences, invariably, are the result of warped thinking. We addicts are very familiar with this process of insanity. For instance, we are often told, informed, chided, rebuked, warned and even threatened, not to be around certain people, places or things- right? What do we do? We do wht we want, when we want.

We will rationalize our way back to the scene of the crime with this caveat in mind: “I'm only going to observe, not participate. I'd never do that again!” After you find yourself on the floor with the world spinning around you, or against the wall with an officer cuffing you, or your wife leaving you for the last time, or your boss telling you that you no longer work here, or the Marshal's knocking on your door telling you that you no longer live here, you'll wonder, “How did I get back here?” The answer: Insanity. One misstep at a time! And God says, “So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don't fall!” 1 Corinthians 10:12
