The second tradition of the Chemical Recovery fellowship is Biblical Authority. Like the reformers who believed that Scripture alone must be the final authority in ordering how men should live, we believe that in a world filled with all kinds of recovery programs only God's word can promise Total recovery from every enslavement.  In the same way sound biblical doctrine refutes false teaching and cures the related diseases of confusion and heresy,  God's word  alone has the ability to rightly identify and completely treat the spiritual malady we call addiction.

At the close of Paul's first letter to Timothy in verse twenty of chapter six Paul warns Timothy to guard what has been entrusted to his care, namely the truth of God's word.  And in so doing to avoid the empty discourse which Paul describes as godless chatter. Today we can easily be taken in by any number of man made philosophies that present themselves as "cures" or "treatments" for addiction. They may appear on some level to offer relief from, and even remission of drug and alcohol abuse. And yet by their very design cannot address, much less fix what the bible plainly describes as being the root of all enslavement, man's sinful and wayward heart. As keepers of the truth we too should closely guard what has been entrusted to us, being careful to never dillute it's potency by allowing it to be mixed with this worlds prescriptions for a recovered life.
We would do well to remember that only the truth can ever set us free.
