CR Ministry News
We have had lots of positive feedback about our monthly Chemical Recovery classes. They address all aspects of substance abuse and how best to help someone caught in addiction. The meetings are open to everyone and people are saying how much they are learning from them.
We don’t need to remind you of the grip that drug and alcohol abuse has on our country. With the legalization of marijuana in several states and the almost daily introduction of new designer drugs, especially to our schools, each one of us cannot afford to be ill-equipped to deal with the onslaught.
With this in mind we wanted to let you know about the change in location for our monthly meetings. The quality of the classes and the fellowship will remain the same but the location is now even easier to reach. We will be meeting in the beautiful hamlet of Pelham, NY at the address below.
Once again, we have a large parking lot available so if you will be driving, parking will not be an issue. The entrance to the classes will be through the lot.
To add to the convenience we are only a 5 minute walk from the Pelham Metro North station.
Should you wish to do some shopping or meet someone for lunch afterwards, the main shopping area of Pelham is just around the corner.
The schedule for the meetings for the rest of 2016 is below.
January 14 - The Jellinek Chart
Please notify your friends about these classes and ask to have them included in your bulletin.

We have created a trifold for download and printing called "Writing an Effective Recovery Journal". The purpose of this handout is to explain to newcomers and those needing to write a recovery journal, how best to achieve this.
It answers the following questions:
1. What is a recovery journal?
2. What should a recovery journal contain?
3. What should a recovery journal avoid?
It contains some pointers to remember and a place for the newcomer to write phone numbers of those he/she meets at group.
The information is in a simple format that is easily read and understood. Please distribute them at your groups and to anyone seeking to learn more about a recovery journal.
Visit our download area to get a copy of this trifold. You must be a site member to access the download area. Membership is free and we do not share or publish your information with anyone

On September 24th the New York City Church of Christ sent 18 disciples (6 from Staten Island and 12 from the Bronx) to Lagos, Nigeria to encourage our sister church there. It was an amazing experience from the moment we landed till the time we left 10 days later. We separated into three groups to best logistically serve the 9 regions of the church.
Some of the highlighting moments were spending time in all of the regions and preaching at the various midweeks, the Congregational Teaching Day on Saturday September 28th, The Independence Worship Sunday, The October 1st Independence Day outreach to the poor, training the staff on Working Effectively With Non-Full Time Staff and last but certainly not least going to visit disciples who lived in some of the remote areas of Lagos.
